As a Community Organizer, Nelson innovates strategies to build community coalitions in Brooklyn amongst various types of stakeholders and community members. He feels fulfilled by this work because giving back to the community has always been very important to him. Nelson joined the Foundling, because of its long history providing assistance, mentorship, and guidance to those in need. He feels that being part of this organization not only enrich and broadens his horizons, but it will equip him with the necessary skills to tackle the challenges affecting vulnerable communities in NYC.
Nelson, who is originally from Venezuela, currently lives in the Bronx. He graduated from City College of New York with a Bachelors, and holds a Bilingual certification as a Spanish speaker. In his free time, Nelson enjoys the simple pleasures of life such as self-reflection and group activities with friends/family. His role models are Jesus Christ, Martin Luther King Jr., and Ghandi.
